Open your mind to fitness! Six ways to develop new healthy habits.

According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, adults should do moderate physical activity for a minimum of 30 minutes five days a week, to improve overall health. Choose activities you love and retrain your brain to stop thinking of exercise as a chore.

Here are six ways to mix it up and make fitness fun.

  • Join a Zumba or dance class to get your heart pumping.
  • Work out with friends or join walking or jogging clubs to help keep you accountable.
  • Keep cool and start swimming. 
  • Burn calories by doing light yard work or gardening.
  • Golf, tennis, softball, basketball and volleyball are all wonderful ways to mix up your routine.
  • Dust off your bicycle or skates and go for a spin around your neighborhood.
